Black sex links?

Okay, that answers a lot! I was wondering if maybe they were mislabeled as I know it definitely happens... they seemed very black to me

Agreed with previous posts, however, #3 pic looks iffy. Am I seeing white in those feathers? Can you show a close up of that one, in natural lighting?

ETA, my home bred BSL pullets are solid black, have pea or walnut combs and lay blue/green/aqua colored eggs.

It’s black sex links and they will develop reddish orange highlight feathers as they mature. Their normally black (black sex link, Black Star) unless it’s a red sexlinks that are called sometimes as red star or could be other cross breeds that falls under sex links that can be sex easy by their plumage or physical traits.

I got 3 black sex links and they look like yours when they were juvies.

Those pictures are all of the same chick.. I can take more of others once I get home (there are 6). Yes, you do see white... I will take much clearer pictures. Stay tuned..

I've got two BSL's that have black heads and red bodies. They lay like machines for 3 years now.

More pictures. Only 2 chicks here... but 6 altogether and all very similar. The only difference is the one that has the largest comb is the only one with the brownish tips coming in...
