I just noticed this morning that my five day old chicks all have black spots on the bottom of their feet. This has never happened before, so I don't know what to do. Yesterday I ran out of paper towels for the bedding of their brooder, so I substituted with newspaper. Could they be having an allergic reaction? Do chickens have allergic reactions? Is it just ink? I'm not sure.

I apologize for the picture being blurry. The chick was squiggling.

My best guess is that's newspaper ink. Newspaper is not a good idea for chicks - too slick! Run to the store! [IMG]

That's what I thought. Thank you! [IMG]
