Does anyone know what this could be on my hens combs.
I have six hens that are all exhibiting this issue.
They are currently separated from all my others.
We are in Houston Texas.

I'm in Houston. The mosquitoes carry this disease that is known as fowl pox.

Once your birds finish suffering and looking nasty like this they should never get it again but it is spread by mosquitoes so keeping mosquitoes at bay will help prevent this from birds that don't get it this round.

It takes about 5 days for fowl pox lesions to appear after the incubation period. Fowl pox is a virus, it'll have to run its course which can take up to 6 plus or minus weeks depending on the severity of the strain.
I've dealt with fowl pox and I can tell you that your birds have a severe case of the disease.
You can use Neosporin ointment if a bird scratches a lesion around an eye to prevent bacterial infection in the eye.
You can put iodine on the scabs to help shrink the scabs and kill the virus at the same time, avoid the eyes.
Eggs are safe to eat. However, egg production will slow down or might stop altogether, your birds will also be irritable.
