Blackness on molting area?

    Where in the body is this area?

    Are you sure you aren't dealing with lice?

    No I am not sure the area looks black though it is on lower back about an inch above oil gland. Oil gland looks good but has some black on ends of feathers.

    He is my largest duck hard to hold I have to have my husband spread the feathers and take pic. He has no patient. I will try to get more
