We ended up with 6 new chicks to go with our 3 layers. We recently put them outside in the coop and they all seem to be doing well except for one of the Polish. He/she is always lagging behind, sleeps on the ground in the run or in the doorway of the coop, I even found it once under some bushes. The eyes seem to be a normal color but doesn’t flinch at all and is really easy to catch and pick up, unlike the others chicks. Are there any tricks we can do to make it easier for the chick or is it going to have a tough life? Thank you.

If the feathers are covering the eyes, you can try trimming them around the eyes once every couple of weeks. If you can manage to get pictures of both eyes and post them here that might help. Polish chickens can be a bit different in a mixed flock, sometimes low in pecking order, bumping into other chickens, and may get their head feathers pecked out. My one polish hen had her eye pecked and blinded, but she got around well enough to find the food and water. She occasionally got lost if she went out the gate.
