    Hi again!
Gosh I have so many questions haha

I read a few different places that you should block off the nest boxes in the coop until the ladies are almost old enough to lay. Does everyone agree with this?

    Thanks!

I only block off my nest boxes if they are sleeping in them

I never had to block mine off as my chicks grew up. The only time I've had to block them during the day was when pecking order squabbles had the lowest girl avoiding the roosts (this was when everyone was adult - not chicks) and so she'd head to a nest box instead.

Personally, I like youngsters exploring the boxes so that they get the idea of where to lay in the future - put some dummy eggs in there...

Ok thanks everyone! Do I put the dummy eggs in from the beginning or just when they are about old enough to lay?

I think most wait until the pullets are about 14-16 weeks. But it won't hurt anything for the eggs to be in there from the get-go - no advantage/disadvantage.
