Blood in eggs

I'm stumped. In the past 2 weeks, I've cracked 2 eggs that have quite a bit of blood mixed in with the whites. It seems to me like they might be fertilized eggs, however, we don't have a rooster. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this? We've raised chickens for years and have never come across this.
