Aug 24, 2011 again [IMG] My 2 week old BO has some blood at the base of her tail feathers.
Do you think some one (the rest are all same age) pecked her?
Or maybe pulled on one of her feathers?
Other than that she seems fine but I am a little concerned about the blood.
I have a red light in the brooder but I wanted to know what might cause the blood in that area.
I didn't look at it close...she doesn't like getting picked up ...don't want to stress her.
    Thanks for your time.

How many chicks? What size is the brooder?

You should probably take her out or at least put something on it so they don't keep pecking it. We had one that had bloody tail feathers at about 4 weeks and she was pecking at it along with all the others. We put some blue stuff on it and she was fine. No tail but otherwise ok. At 19 weeks she still has less of a tail than the others do.

There are six chicks in a 2' x 4' brooder.
    Today it is dried up
Any ideas on what may have caused this??
