Blood??

    Just put my silkie hen back into er pen and saw a red bubble thing. My other hens can't peck her coz she lives in a sepetate pen. Anyone know what it is????????[​IMG]

    sorry about the bad photos but when I found it, it was blood red and now after about an hour it has gone very dark red/black ish.

    any one have any clue?[​IMG]

    When I got her a few days ago the lady who sold it said this chook had mite eggs but she had killed all eggs and all mites. could their be some alive ones? I really don't know. anyone??

    I really can't tell anything from the pictures. Could the spot be from a blood blister, like if she had been injured? Is it possible it could be a tick? Otherwise I don't think mites would cause that. You may want to post in detail with photos on "Emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread where others will offer their best advice.

    I would keep an eye out for a re-infestation of mites which can make her miserable - if she wasn't treated properly at her former home.

    I would keep your new chicken segregated from the rest of the flock till I was sure what is going on and be prepared to treat everyone for mites in the next week or so [​IMG]
