What kinds of bloodwork are required for show birds ? How long in advance do you get it and how long is it good for ? Are there any vaccinations that any of you give your birds to keep them safe when being around strange birds at shows ?

You will want to test for typhoid, Pollorum, and Avian Influenza, send off for your NPIP Flock certificate it is valid for 12 months.
As far as vacinations that varies with the part of teh country, as far as vacinations some don't bother, others need it for fowl pox, mareks is a good idea, as well as coryza. we vacinate for mareks and coryza but don't have fowl pox in this area so when a bird is sold to areas (Mostly swamp land, and south east where mosquitoes are big problem) with that problem I make them aware that they will to vacinate.
You call your State AG/NPIP person. That person schedules a time to come out to test your flock. They give you a certificate (here in Alabama, we get a card, with my name, NPIP #, city, state, and exp date.
