Hello everyone on BYC! For all that don’t know, I’m a new chicken mom.

I’m very concerned about my new chick, Scamp. Let me start from the beginning. Scamp was bought from a local farm shop. She already had problems eating and drinking, for next 2 days I was slowly teaching her how to eat by putting some feed in my hand and bringing to her. She slowly started eating.

When my boyfriend and I first got her/him we were worried about Scamp not being able to swallow because everytime Scamp would take a drink she would kind-of “spit up” her water.

Then, Scamp started to poo these red, icky poos. Im worried I’m not doing something correct or if there’s something going on with my baby.

Some clearer photos of the poop and some of Scamp may be helpful.

How old is she?
What do you feed?
Do you provide grit?
How is she housed?

Is her crop emptying overnight?
