Bloody poop? *pic*

    Yes it's me again with a close-up of a pile of chicken poop. [​IMG]

    Is this just a whole lot of intestinal lining? [​IMG] Is it something else? Or... is it cocci? [​IMG]

    Looks like shed intestinal lining. Bloody poops are darker and there is no mistaking them for anything other than bloody poops.

    I did not know they shed their intestinal lining. I am glad I read this before any of my girls started doing this. Before getting chicks this Spring, I read 5 different chicken books, and I don't recall any mention of such a scary looking dropping.

    I'm glad I saw this, otherwise I might have thought something was wrong. How often does this occur?

    This is what my hen just did as well. I was really alarmed! And then I came inside to check BYC. And now I have other questions! I am new to this chicken thing... Why do chickens shed their interestingly lining? Ewwww.....
