BLR hen and GL roo cross.. what to call this cross??

    There may not be a name for this cross, but I figured I would ask. My Blue Laced Red hen and Gold Laced rooster made these beautiful babies! They look like truer BLR than their mother, who has more white than blue. [​IMG]

    Momma is Splash Laced Red, not Blue. That's why she looks mostly "white."

    Chick could be called Blue Laced Red (technically it's still red, just a heterozygote for the Mahogany gene instead of a homozygote) or Blue Laced Gold. Simply calling in Blue Laced Red would be the easiest and most correct - the only difference between a Golden Laced and a Blue Laced Red is the addition of the Blue gene and the Mahogany gene; they're otherwise very similar. Mahogany turns the gold to a darker shade of red and Blue turns the black to blue or splash.
