We have a BLRW that we can't tell if it's a boy or girl. It is about 7-8 months old. No crowing/eggs. The color says Roo to us.

Quote:Thanks [IMG] We thought the same for how old it is. It's color is way wrong for a girl. But....we are having gender issues with another of our flock too. Must be something in our water [IMG]

BLRW is a project color...many many are the "wrong" color or lacing.Even the biggest breeders Foley and Paul hatch a few hundred and only keep a handful to use. They still make great yard chickens...girls lay great and the guys are nice to live with.Wyandottes are slow to mature..my 8-9 month old ladies are laying one egg every other day and I mean one egg for the pen not each hen [IMG]

Yep, I'd say girl too. Just smudgy on the wings.... I have a few pop out like that every once in a while. Sometimes the lacing improves after a good molt [IMG]

She sure looks young for the age you posted.

    But yes, she is female.
