Blue cochin gender

    I'm pretty sure this guy is a roo, the store told me to wait until he crows to know for sure....but I don't want to wait to bring him back.
    any ideas? He is 7 weeks now, these are 5 week pictures. I can add new ones if it helps

    Thought I'd share this image of our previous cochin rooster Carlton at the same age as your boy. In my experience, Cochins do not grow large combs and wattles. The girls have practically nothing until point of lay, and even then they are small.

    I'm basing my guess of male on your bird based on my experience, and the redness in the comb/wattles. Girls shouldn't have that colour at this age.

    X2 on boy with that much pink comb/wattle at five weeks, very pretty color.

    That's a rooster. Take him back now, Cochin's are slow to mature and that boy may not crow until April. Why should you have to feed him and get attached for that long, knowing full well you're going to return him?
