Would an ameraucana x silkie chicken have blue skin and lay blue eggs? Or green eggs? Just out of curiousity alone, I don't realy want more chicks LOL! [IMG]

Should have black/slate skin and legs, eggs would have a slight greenish tint as silkie eggs are rather ivory coloured, not white. Feathers would not be silkied.

Quote:Silkies have Black skin, not Blue eggs... I believe Silkies lay white eggs, if the original ameraucana lays blue egg then the cross hens will lay blueish eggs as they will have only one copy of the Blue egg gene...

Silkies lay a tan colored egg, so as said, the offspring will lay greenish eggs. Also, - Ameraucanas, true ones, already have blue legs. [IMG] Their skin may not be a dark blackened color, but, if you get a blue Ameraucana, that's a blue colored, blue legged, blue egg laying bird.
