I have a black easter-egger hen who had a lavender araucana father and a mother who was half Welsummer and half partridge patterned bantam. Interestingly when she started laying, all eggs were blue-green and she had the pea-comb to go with it. Her first clutch were all blue-green eggs. But during the process of mothering, her comb grew out as multi-point, retaining the feather-cresting, and when she went back to lay, all eggs were cream. It was as if, with the dilution of genes through cross breeding and through physical maturation, that the two genes related to blue eggs and pea comb were switched off. Has anyone ever noticed this before? Her remaining daughter still lays blue-green eggs so it will be interesting to see if she goes the same way.

Huh that is weird. and yeah its probably that she switched the chromosomes she was using some how. she went from her dominant genes to her recessive genes. perhaps you should even try crossing her back to her father to see if you can get the same or cross her to her son. If you can make a "transformer chicken" that would be pretty cool
