I let them out this morning a bit after 7.
Workers got here at 8 to work on the garage. DH went out to talk with them. He doesn't recall if he saw the ducks or not.
I went out at 8:20 and no Blue. I've looked around the property for 25 mins and no Blue. No sign of Blue. No feathers. Nothing. No Blue.

The workers put the fence down to get the tractor out, so maybe something came in and took her? Going back out with different shoes to see if I can find her.

Noooo!!!! Blue cannot be missing. It's impossible.

Maybe the workers scared her into hiding? I had my Saxony hen disappear just like that, and she showed up within a couple days. With all the work going on out there, I would think it would discourage a predator. Keep your fingers crossed and walk around and call to Blue. I'm sure everything is ok...it just HAS to be.

darn duck!
On the other side of the road I saw what could have been mauled white duck. It was a white plastic bag with some blood on it (probably from our dumped trash can yesterday morning).
I searched every inch of the front yard and was looking under things she can't even get to and was about to check the back again when little white duck just bobs her way around the corner of the back deck doing her little quiet quack. She seems fine. Dirty on the underside, but fine. No clue where she was. She wasn't telling me so I could understand.

Who know I'd be so relieved to find a little white duck!

She's now out hanging out with Ally and Cadbury again.
Moving the fence back so the workers won't have to take it down, so hopefully that will lessen an issue at least with them and things getting in.

Crap - dog isn't here either. What a pita. He'll come back when I yell for him though - or he better.

Yaaaay Blue!! Maybe she sneaked off to lay some eggs? If her belly is dirty then could she have been makin a nest in the dirt?
I'm so pleased she came home!!!

I thought nest after she rounded the corner. Only 2 eggs this morning and I thought the one missing was hers.
Just came home from work and was out with DH and the dogs and the ducks. Decided to really check around the deck and saw nothing and then decided to look under all the shrubs to see if I could find some disturbed dirt where she may have made a nest.

I found it.
One nest dug into the ground (hard ground) and one blue egg.
So for 45+ mins, she was making herself a nest and laying an egg. Little turd ball!
