I still think he's a cockerel.

I'd tentatively guess cockerel, based on comb reddness. However, at this point, I don't see any obivious male or female characteristics.

Ok he "crowed" for the first time this morning! More of a long honk really, but now I am content knowing for sure! I think I have a home for him this weekend and I thank everyone who helped me with his gender!
