Hi i have a blue laced red wyandotte bantam named Pretty Bird that we got when she was five days old.I put her in the brooder with the chicks i had just hatched so she was a little bigger then them then. Now she is 7 weeks old and my bantam silkies that used to be her size are way bigger and my Buff orpingtons are 5 times bigger then her now, shes older then all of them.I hatched 5 red comets. They are two weeks old now and she is still smaller then them. Pretty Bird eats, drinks, plays and acts like all the others but just doest grow.Does anyone have a chick like this? Will she be okay? could she be a dwarf bantam or something?

Where did you get yours? I bought 8 BLRW through Ideal Poultry and lost 3 within a week. The remaining 5 are very spry and healthy but they also have not grown. They are incredibly stunted. They are about 4 weeks old and barely have any feather growth on them at all, no pin feathers, just the very end of their wings have grown in. But again, they are playing/eating/drinking and keeping up with the other chicks that are now bigger than them. (At least double the size and fully feathered.) But yeah mine look identical to yours. I would love an answer also. :idunno:hmm

Hi thanks for your reply😊.I got her from a reputable breeder were i live in Texas called Blue ranch. I went to buy some silkies and i saw her.She was the only wyandotte in there with the silkies. She was the last one, so i had to bring her home with me😇.Now shes my hubbys little baby🤗 super spoiled!! she can hold her own with the bigger size chicks, they dont mess with her but if they get in her way of food she gets feisty lol.The silkies who were smaller then her are now twice her size, not to mention the Buff orpingtons i hatched that are 5 days younger then her are now 5 times bigger than her.If its a deformity and she can live a happy life as a small bantam dwarf thats okay with me as long as she stays healthy and happy. All my chickens are pets.Im not trying to breed them or eat them. They are my babys and super spoiled😊.I hope that your babys make it too.Hope someone has a chicken like this that has made it to adulthood or that knows more about this and could give us some answers🤔
