    Hello,

Can someone tell me what I will get if I cross a blue copper Marans rooster with a black copper hen? Will the chicks be either/or, or would they be a splash?

I just hatched some eggs and some are definitely black, and some are a "ligher black/kinda grey-ish", but not a true blue.

    Thanks!

    Kristen

This is one of the chicks in question (and I am also hoping pullet):

I "think" this is a black:

A blue copper rooster over a black copper hen will produce blue copper and black copper offspring, you won't get any splash from that pairing.

The first chart in this image should help explain:

You treat them as if you were breeding regular blues and blacks, the copper is a separate gene.
