I raised my 2 blue slate boys from babies. They are huge and very, very sweet. I can give them hugs and they follow me around. They are beautiful.

I have a blue slate hen, she is beautiful. She is the one that laid the eggs last month. Hoping two of them will hatch, the others did nothing.
I also have 2 SPanish Blacks and 6 Bourbon Reds.

i'm thinking of ordering some along with some welsh harlequin ducks and some sexed pullets this coming spring from Cackle Hatchery.

Quote:To begin with, despite the common vernacular, the proper term for the breed is simply Slate, as officially recognized by the American Poultry Association.

Quote:well, technically perhaps, but since there are different colors of Slate turkeys, it's fair to call the common ones Blue Slate to differentiate them from the less common lavender (self-blue).
