I have a beautiful rooster with an irridescent blue patch on his cheek area. (I have some hens with the same thing.) Is that typical of a certain breed? I hatched them from "mystery" eggs.

Is it on the plumage or on the skin? If it's on the skin then it could be the earlobes. My silkies had irridescent blue/green earlobes.

The blue is on the skin. He's definitely not a silkie, though.

Is he a hybrid? Where did you get the "Mystery eggs?" Do you have any pictures?

I doubt he's a hybrid. I got him from a nearby farm. The females have the same blue earlobe patch. Unfortunately, my camera is awol...

Silkies aren't the only breeds that have that but you could have a silkie cross. There are a lot of popular silkie crosses that may not look like silkies at all.
