Hello, our bob whites are either extremely late or early. We don't know why these seasonal quail started laying in the winter, but has this happened to anyone else and do you know why?

Bobs can start laying at 6 months if conditions are just right for them. Were these birds hatched this year? I have had some females around 6-8 months old start laying in late fall. It happens. They will probably shut down at some point.

A bright street light or house light at night, can be enough, if left on all night, to get them to lay.

Our quails have a space heater in the bird room with them and a light. Thanks for an answer.
