My mama hen got killed by a bobcat just yesterday. Today one of her two chicks died, Without mama there to protect her from the geese & roosters. What do I do with the one chick? Put it in an area by itself? Or will it be lonely and stress and die?

How old is the chick? What's the weather? Although, either way, I would put it in a broader and put in a mirror or two...Maybe something to snuggle as well.

    I'm sorry for your losses...

[IMG] at this age the lone chick should be in a brooder box with heat lamp raising the temp to about 80degrees, you lower by 5 degrees every week by moving the light just far enough away to lower the temp to that degree on a thermometer in the brooder. . When she is fully feathered out she won't need the extra heat. you can give her a mirror so she thinks there is another chick, a little stuffed animal that she can cozy up to.

Welcome to BYC [IMG] Sorry to hear about your losses. See if you can get another chick or 2 of more or less the same age as your chick, to keep it company.
