Do you need anything to raise bobwhites for personal use in CA? Like a permit or license?

Also, please link to where the info can be found. Thanks in advance!

A breeder told me that Bobwhites are not native to CA, that is false, right?
Bobwhites are not native to CA. They still require a permit, or at least when I spoke to someone at the fish & game dept. they told me they do. Coturnix quail do not because they are not native to the Americas at all. Bobwhiltes, while not native to CA, are native to north America.

Here is a link to give you an idea of their territory.

You absolutely need a permit to raise Bob's in California.
When in doubt or there is conflicting information, get the required permit(s).
I dont own Bobwhites, I was just wondering. Either way, I wouldnt have gotten any just to be safe. Thanks!
