Bossy hen

    Got 6 new hens today. One is bossing all others and when they went into coop tonight... She was pecking the others of the perch. Will the others stand up to her when they settle?

    [​IMG] They will settle into their own social structure = the pecking order. She will most likely be the top of the order.

    Thanks.... Not too worried yet...unless I go out in morning and I've got 5 bald hens.... [​IMG]

    :D They can appear to be very 'mean', roosting time is almost always a major pecking time.....
    .....even with mature birds that have lived together for years.

    How old are the birds?
    Did they all come from the same place?
    Do you have about a foot of roost length per bird?

    As long as no blood is drawn or no one is getting pinned down and beaten unceasingly just leave them to figure it out.

    Cheers. They came from different breeders. Plenty of perch space. Settling down a bit now. Only one one is sleeping in nesting box. Might be coz of the bossy hen. Anything for a good nights sleep... Lol.
