Hello BYC family. I’m brand new to chickens, incubated eggs, 6 hatched, but sadly lost 4 to a fox. I’m left with two beauties. A Silkie and a Cuckoo Maran (I think!) They’re only 6 weeks, but I’m fairly certain both are roosters? What do you think? If so, can I keep them together? I’ve lost 4, I couldn’t bear the thought of giving one up!

Your Cuckoo Maran one looks like a cockerel two I don’t think that’s a Maran it looks like a Barred Rock!

I don’t know you tell the breeds apart by there legs that’s awesome! The saying goes you learn something new every day!
I agree with you that the feathering looks like a Barred Rock! However, Barred Rocks have yellow legs. Marans on the other other hand have pinkish white legs. Once I started keeping an eye out, it becomes a habit to check the legs because often times it's the one definitive separating feature! ☺️
