    Hello Everyone,

My chicks are 8 weeks old now, have an australorp, white leghorn and isabrown. All bought as "girl" day olds. My boy named them Starjump, Fred and Euro. Been a bit skeptical about Starjumps gender for a week or two (black Australorp). Initially was smaller than the others but has grown a fair bit in the last 3 weeks and developed a bright red comb. "She" behaves the same as the girls when it comes to the dog next door (they just stand still) and they usually dig a big hole in the dirt and laze about together for most of the day. No sign of aggression yet. A little bit noisy but not a discernable crow yet. A little bit heavier than the others too.

Opinions much appreciated, my little boy will be devastated if we have to relocate "her"

We live in Adelaide, Australia (pretty warm at the moment)

    Thanks

    Darrell

  2. I would say "that is a really big comb" even for a rooster at just eight weeks. I have not had any BA's yet. I hope to one day though.

I would venture a gues of "boy"

Wow, huge comb for that age! Pretty certain that's a boy, especially seeing the shine in the feathers in the first picture.

That's a boy and not an Australorp, sorry.

(Australorps do not have the red color leakage this bird beginning to display)
