One of my farm store chicks started growing a comb and wattle before anyone else, so pretty sure I got a roo. Wanted to get some additional opinions. Age is currently around 16 weeks, assuming this one was a few days old when at the farm store.

Head: (This pic was from a few days ago, was just the best one I had for showing comb and wattle. The inflammation and injury to the ear is looking much better today)

Votes for Pullet:
What appears to be hackles and saddles at a glance are rounded feathers.
Has not crowed
Rather low on the pecking order
Rooster performs the wing dance to this one, does not fight back.

Votes for Roo:
Large red comb and wattle
No eggs (currently nobody from this batch is laying at this age, to my knowledge)

Comb looks exactly like when my RIR hen matured. My current RIR pullet is 15 weeks and has no comb to speak of - but yours looks to be a production type of some sort so maybe she's on a faster maturation schedule. I'd say you have a girl that's about to lay.

She's not squatting or hunting around the egg boxes, though?

Well, I'm guessing she'll start soon. As you mentioned, really the only 'male' trait is the big, red comb. But it looks just like a mature pullet/hen comb to me. Fingers crossed!
