Brahma's 1st egg

One of my blue partridge brahmas was trying to lay her first egg this morning. But it was stuck, with the large end coming out first. I carefully turned it and forced it out. Part of her vent (?) Was still hanging out. I pushed it in as much as I could, but it appears to be stretched somewhat. Will it return to normal? And do I need to be concerned about her surviving this?

The large end always comes out first. You probably shouldn't of forced it. Hopefully the swelling goes down. Some people use preparation H on things like that.

Thanks for the info. The only reason I forced it is because it was hanging out of her.

Look up 'prolapsed vent'.
Turning it was probably not a good idea.
Was it hanging out while she was walking around?

Yeah, that sounds like a prolapse....you'll have to keep a close eye on her.
