Hi everyone 7 of my chicks hatched today and they are pecking at the thermostat in the incubator. is this okay? Do yours do this? The last time I hatched eggs they did not, although I only had 2 hatch. I believe its the thermostat is the black box under the dial that you turn to regulate the heat. I'm afraid they are going to get electricuted (spelling??)

It's perfectly normal. The chicks are just curious. I sat and watched the chicks I put in the brooder peck the cloth I put in the bottom, each other's toes, the water bowl... If your chicks are dry and fluffy you can remove them and put them in the brooder.

Thank you. 4 of them are in the brooder now. The other 3 are looking a bit wet still so they will wait till later.
