Hey everybody I bought some silkies yesterday and just noticed this today in my black silkie one eye is very watery and she’s started closing it but otherwise seems totally fine she’s eating she’s walking around she’s cleaning her feathers but I’ve now read all about the infections that mean I have to cull but I don’t know if that’s what this is and I’m not about to cull on a suspicion what should I do?

Well there seems to be some swelling in the face and I also see bubbles in the eyes, which are signs of a respiratory illness.
There are bubbles sometimes but only after she blinks a lot and the swelling is pretty localized on the eyelid of that eye not really her whole face

I hope so I bought these to eventually be my egg hatchers so if they have that infection that they always carry I’ll have to get rid of them
Ive dealth with mg before with a lav orp rooster never even got it home as i heard it wheezing in the box. Now id rather buy from hatcheries and raise them myself as people lie

It’s not wheezing or breathing funny at all but yeah this is my first outside of a store chicken purchase and my most expensive I paid $10 a chick for these and I got my others at the end of chick season from a store for less than a dollar each and had no issues
