What a wonderful forum! My son and I are looking for a healthier lifestyle and decided that homegrown and home canned is our goal for 2015. So as we do everything.....Baby chicks are in a rubber maid container and the chicken coop should be done (hopefully) this week. We have so much to learn and I am Thankful to have found this group.....what a awesome bunch of online neighbors.... Hope to chat with everyone real soon [IMG]

I have 12 Black Astralorps, 12 Buff Orpingtons, 6 Ameraucanas (because my son who is 21 thinks they are cool) and we are awaiting the arrival of 16 Black laced Red Wyandottes. I was sure the Wyndottes would be my favorite but how can you not love baby Buff Orpingtons..... they are so cute and really friendly.

Hello, and welcome to BYC![IMG] I'm glad you joined our community.

Sounds like you'll have a wonderful flock! All of the breeds that you've chosen should have very good temperaments and be good layers. The Wyandotte is my favorite breed of chicken because of its excellent temperament, good egg production, and hardiness. The Ameraucana is a nice breed, too.
