Breed and Gender Help Needed

Discussion in 'What Breed Or Gender is This?' started by citychickinthecountry, May 21, 2010.

  1. Hello all. I need your assistance in determining the genders and breeds of my 9 chicks (pictured below). I'll number the pictures to make life easier. I apologize for any bad pictures...the little boogers wouldn't cooperate...except for "Mini"...the Bantam that crows and that I think is a Rooster. [IMG]

    The following 3 are Silkies:

    1. Black Silkie? (I am presuming a Roo?).

    2. White Silkie? (Gender?)

    3. No idea what kind of Silkie. (Gender?)

    The rest are all Bantams:

    4. Polish? (Pullet?)

    5. No idea. (Roo? He/She crows.)...I love this picture! [IMG]

    6. No idea. (Gender?)

    7. White Wyandotte (sp?)? (Pullet?)...this was after a dirt bath.

    8. No idea. (Pullet?)

    9. Frizzle? (Pullet?)...this chick does not have 5 toes like a Silkie. Otherwise, I'd think it was a Silkie!

  4. I'm only supposed to have 1 Roo...one of the Silkies is a Roo supposedly. I definitely think #5 is a Roo also.

Gosh, I hope I don't have as many Roos as you all think I do. I'll be finding good homes for them. [IMG]

Your for sure have 5 roosters ... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

  6. So, what's the indication of that? Their combs or their feathers? Or both?

My older Polish looked just like this younger one, but she laid eggs. Her waddle (is that what it's called) was really red when she was younger and still is today). Her tail feathers even look the same, so I'm dumbfounded. Sigh.

So, do all roosters crow? Maybe that's why certain chicks have been squabbling so much (if 5 of them are roosters!). [IMG]

I agree, but pretty boys [IMG]

The Buff Silkie wannabe is definitely roo, look at the wattles and lobes. Big and colorful.
    The Game cockerel is lovely.
#8 is a cockerel, but I can't really say what breed. It reminds me of a couple but not an absolute.
These HAVE to be hatchery birds or you picked them up at TSC or your feed store, right?

Number 7 looks just like my white leghorn if that is any help. If it is a leghorn I would say pullet.
