First timer here [IMG] Got these chicks from school after they hatched.
They are 7 weeks old and I'm wondering about gender and breed.

I've done a little research, but can't find much. Think the black/blueish ones are Australorps and the little one is a barred cochin? Not sure of the rest. Think I have 2 roosters for sure- the black ones with crazy red combs. Any advice is appreciated! They don't have names, but I've numbered the pictures [IMG]

    Adorable fluffy butts!!

#4 (white fluffy one with puffy cheeks) looks like a splash Easter Egger pullet to me. You should get some pretty blue or green eggs!! The barred guy looks quite a bit like my 8 week old black sex-link. If that is the case he is a Rooster. However alot of the barred chickens look alike to me. It seems like the boys at this age have less tail feathers than the girls. Maybe that can help you guess sex, otherwise look for stringy saddle feather. But they should start crowing in a few more weeks......then ya know!!

#7 looks like the same mix as #3 definitely a pullet
#8 no idea on breed but it's a pullet
#9 front looks like either a black austalorp or a jersey giant cockerel, but the one in the back has a rose comb so I don't know

Thanks everyone! I loved reading your replies! Bummer that I have 4 roosters! I can only keep one, because they will fight, right? I'd love to keep the Cochin and one more...Any tips on how to decide who to keep? Observe temperment?

If you have six pullets I would recommend only keeping one rooster. If you keep more than one rooster the pullets will get bald backs and heads from being over mated. The flock will also be much calmer with one rooster, which translates into a healthier flock and higher egg production.
