Hi I've assumed both of these chickens are pullets and thought the red one was a Rhode island red and grey one was a olive egger since I got them as "babies" but I'm only a year and a half into this chicken raising life so I don't trust myself and I want to check around. Let me know your thoughts and thank you 😊.

It's easier to sex when there's a mix of boys and girls to distinguish between. I find you can generally be pretty certain around 5-6 weeks.

Some boys will start to get a feather sheen and those wattles start to grow out and the comb reddens up. Anyone still looking pale with no wattle/comb growth at that age is generally safe to declare pullet. Of course, there are always the 'in betweens' of slow developing roos and early developing pullets. Attitude goes a long way too. Roos are real charmers, outgoing and friendly too.

Just don't do like we did and get one Silkie chick and then spend the next 6 months wondering it she's a he because you have no boys to compare her to.
