This spring I decided to start raising chickens. I am very excited and having a blast with my 10 chicks (LOVE this site and all the awesome people on here!) , but being new at this I am not sure the gender of my flock. I can only keep one rooster and I am starting to run out of room. I have to make a decision..build on or start finding new homes for my roosters. I am posting our family favorite to see if he/she will be the rooster to keep. I will try to post the others in hopes that I can get help in determining where to go from here. Please help! thanks!

What age is s/he??

If it has white legs, it's a Buff Orpington. If yellow legs, it's a Buff Plymouth Rock. Can't tell you if it's male or female without knowing the age, though, not with any certainty, though as small as it is with a comb that large and red, seems it may be a cockerel.

That's the problem-we can't see the legs so we don't know if it has feathered legs or not. The OP needs to tell us. If feathered legs, then it's definitely a Buff Cochin cockerel. I know what you mean about the tail area. Sexing and determining breed is hard to do with a sitting bird.
