Breed names

    How do I call my chicken Barred rock cross light sussex.Can I call the white to be white rock. How about the rooster?[​IMG]

    Mixed breed birds don't have breed names. They're simply mixed breeds, or if the breeds are known, Breed A x Breed B. So, you would say you have Sussex/Rock crosses (if that's what the parent breeds are). There's no name for the mix.

    You can't call them a specific breed because they aren't one. You can call them barred rock sussex crosses, mixes, mutts, cross breeds, etc. There is not a breed name for them. You can't call the white one a white rock because it is not a white Plymouth rock, it is a cross breed.
