There is a guy locally selling Mille Fleur, Seabright, and "Topknot" banty, 2-3 week old chicks for $1.00 each.

I currently have BB Red OEG 4 week old banty chicks, one hen, and nothing else. I really like the look of the Mille Fleur. What kind of temperament do they have? And is this a good price for chicks? I've only ever bough eggs, or chicks in big quantities.

And what the heck is a Topknot banty?
  2. We have 2 mille fleur banty pullets. They are 5 weeks old and absolutely precious and sweet. They are very kind to our 10 day old standard sized chicks.

    I love them.[IMG]

We had a Millie Fluer hen and she was pretty sweet. A bit dumb though. I think a dollar for each chick is a great deal. I have no idea what a "topknot" chicken is. [IMG] Maybe a creasted breed, like Polish. And a word for the wise- don't get any Sebrights!

I wouldn't recommend seabrights as they can get nasty, but the mille fleur d'Uccles are very sweet beautiful birds.

Although he's only said he's selling mille fleur? You cant be positive they are d'Uccles, even though they probably are. Mille fleur is just the color, and several breeds come in it.

I had a Mille Fleur OEGB and he was so cute and so mean! Gorgeous bird, and I put up with him for the most part. Even saved his little but from Ret the RIR rooster who was out free-ranging when I was moving breeding pairs and he flew out of the cage. But he certainly wasn't grateful for it.

Well, the husband has said that until we get a real coop built, no more chickens. I HATE it when he uses logic...grumble, grumble, grumble....

How early do Mille Fleur chicks start getting their spots? Some of the chicks I got at market one month ago. They were supposed to be BB Red banty's, but two of them are developing spotty feathers-not missing feathers, but like a spot coloration.

Would those pretty Mille Fleur spots start showing this early?

Right now I have a hen, three little roos, and four little hen-lets.

Seabrights are CRAZY with psycho energy. They also have very fragile eggs, so if you planned to hatch any GOOD LUCK. The MF are wonderful, though the roos can become little a**holes. [IMG]
