Looks like a mix to me. Possibly olive egger mix with part Marans.

I’m unsure. I agree with possible mix. Looks slightly like my blue laced gold wyandottes.

She was sold as an Orpington at TSC. They couldn't sell mixes, could they?

TSC is notorious for mixing chicks and mislabeling.

It could be a factory Orpington but poor standard. Hatchery Orpingtons often are not very good standard.

Orpingtons should be short tailed, soft feathered and white legged. This obviously isn't meeting that standard.

Sometimes hatcheries send a mystery bird as a packing peanut. Some of those are mixed birds.

And an EE type bird is a mixed bird.

I still think hatchery olive egger or EE.

Nope. Has penciling on body. Body would be black with copper on hackles. Legs would be grey rather than black wash over yellow. And eye would be copper not dark

Not BCM. May have some in it as body type is a bit Maranish.

I'm still at olive egger which could be a Marans mix

While my breed-spotting experience is still limited, at this point I'm assuming that any hatchery/farm store bird that isn't within shouting distance of an established breed's appearance is some form of designer-hybrid "Egger".
