i am gonna try to get a drake from someone and was wondering how long would they need to be together before i get fertile eggs. also will one hen and one drake work or will he mate her to death? my hen is a blue swedish and im not sure what the drake will be. also will she go broody with a drake in with her? and how long will the eggs stay good before incubate them... i want to wait until i get atleast a dozen before i incubate them.

the eggs should be fertile in a week or so and 1 drake and 1 hen should be fine. she may or may not go broody thats hit or miss and the eggs are good for hatching up to 7 days after she lays.

will the drake go to work right away and also will the eggs stay good until i get about a dozen if she lays one egg a day.
