Breeding eggs for chicks

If I am breeding chickens to sell the chicks, can the chicken and rooster be related?

I've always heard that it's generally not a big problem. Many people breed related birds. I think the preferred method is mother/son and father/daughter instead of brother/sister, though. I know there are several breeders who breed exclusively from their own stock and never bring in new blood. Other breeders bring in outside blood every so often to add to their existing flock. Both are viable methods of breeding.
