I am way ahead of myself here as my chicks are only 8.5 weeks old, but I have a question about breeding. If a hatchery sends me 6 chickens and one of them is a rooster, are they likely from the same hen? If so, will there be serious issues if I decide to let a broody hen hatch some eggs?

Quote:It seems unlikely that they would be from the same hen and rooster. I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to improve your stock, be prepared to cull from your future hatches.

highly unlikely.. they hatch thousands of eggs every day.. the chances of the chicks in your order being related to each other is very slim...
