If you don't mind having mixed chicks, keep the hens and the roosters together. Gather the eggs and incubate them, or allow a broody hen to sit on them. If you want pure chicks, you need to separate them by breed and wait about a month before setting eggs.

I wanted to have pure but i cant wait month and then have a broody you know. lol That becool though! I want good meat birds that lay eggs as best they can for a good eating bird. Is there any thing that i should do to breed and hatch? I have no idea how to do any of that kinda stuff!

Depending on what kind of chickens you have, some will be good for meat and eggs and some won't. Delawares, rocks, orpingtons, are good for meat and eggs, so if you have roos and hens of these breeds and they cross you will get good dual purpose chickens. If you have leghorns or polish roos and they cross with your heavy hens, you will get a not so good for eating bird. As far as breeding, the chickens will take care of that. When you are ready to start hatching, save 4 or 5 days worth of eggs and fill your incubator. and check back here often with more questions![IMG]

Most anything you have crossed with the giants, would be black, crossing him with the Buff Orp and NHR should give good meatbirds.

Anything bred with the buff cochin roo should have feathered feet and would vary in color.
