    Hi,
I bought brewers yeast for my drake as recommended on here, I mix it in with his pellets or his veges, just curious, how much and how often do I need to give it to him?
E.g. 1 teaspoon a week? Or how much? I just don't want to overdo it.
    Thanks. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Hi, Bish, sorry it took a while. Rough day or two. So, before I leave computerland again for a while, the recommendations for brewer's yeast that I have seen usually say "a sprinkling on their food."

For one drake, I think a teaspoon on top of vegies or pellets every other day would be a good start. You already make sure he has plenty of fresh water, so that is what I would do.

Here is a thread where T Hi explains the amount they use. Post 4

Thank you so much. I have been sprinkling a teaspoon over his veges/fruit every second day so that is great. Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.
The fussy little boy wouldn't eat anything with the yeast on it to start, but he is fine now. I just had to cut back the dose and ease him into it, now he doesn't even notice. [IMG]

I hope your days get better. Sorry to hear it has been rough. [IMG]

Thanks, Bish. Good to "see" you, and hope to hear more about the little drake soon. What's the weather like in NSW this week? We had a number of serious wind gusts a couple days ago, sent many hanging sections of deadwood down. Only thing I lost was the plastic container that keeps a small propane tank from rusting. Smacko! Square on the top, shattered it. Tank seems okay. And the tree that has been dead since we moved here 30 years ago (I think it was dead when we got here - maybe just nearly so) finally fell over. Into the woods, no harm to property or animals. I think it was fifty feet high. That would be, what, a little over 15 meters? And then it got cool. High today only around 18C.

Plenty of funny stories on Billy (my drake), he is one crazy little boy full of attitude. Love him to bits. I would never have thought owning a duck would be so amusing and rewarding. [IMG]

Sounds like you have had a rough few days. Lucky the tree fell in the woods though.
We are expected to get 34C today. Hottest day so far this spring. It isn't even summer here yet. So we are in for a hot summer. Lots of water, shade and sprinklers for my babies. Billy really feels the heat and so does my Rottweiler, the sun just scorches him because he is black. Last year they were all inside under the aircon. Looks like that will be happening again.
Billy has a duck diaper so he loves to hang out inside with the family. [IMG]

So pleased you are pampering the critters! Do take care. I bring the runners and buffs in during the mid afternoon when it gets above 32 and sunny. The runners - most of them - are dark, and the buffs don't like the heat so much - they are much thicker-bodied.
