This is a brand new incubator. It's fitted with a "liquid in glass" thermometer that Brinsea says is made especially for incubating and is very accurate. Well, I've had it running for a few days, and all seems well.

In the back of my mind though, I'm worried. I had put one of those brooder thermometers (the flat kind that is stapled to a plastic sheet) into the thermometer, and it read 102, so I was worried...Then I got this digital hygrometer/thermometer, and it matched with the brinsea, at 99.1 for my last reading.

I am surprised at how warm the eggs feel! What if I'm cooking them and the cheap little thermometer on the card is correct?! I am just really worried.....Can't stop obsessing....

Somebody, any advice? What would you all do?

Thank you,
Sharon

I trust my Brinsea thermometer. I used to try two or three different thermometers in my ECO--they all had different readings and it drove me crazy trying to decide which one was right. So, now I generally just use the one in the Brinsea.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me! Three different readings and I didn't know which one to trust. I had to adjust my brinsea with a tiny screwdriver...did you? I ran it for about four days, and I got it adjusted to 99.1, and then I turned it ever so slightly to get that reading between 99.3 and 99.6..... Do your eggs feel pretty warm? I am soooo paranoid!

Really? OH thank you! It's so weird. My digital said 102 when I went down, which paniced me, and my glass thermometer that came with the incy said 99. I think I'm gonna have a stroke!

I'm struggling with the same - dare I say OCD issues? Why can't they all read exactly the same??????????????????

Anyway - I have made the decision to trust the Brinsea. I only got the others for the Hygrometer reading, but is hard to ignore the tmep reading next to it?

Also, I find the readings can fluctuate as the unit rotates in the cradle...??? What I did was get everything reading as I liked with the unit sitting flat and still, then I put it back into the auto turner. Funny, there are times when I feeling what happens if they all hatch? - the next minute I'm thinking nothing is gonna hatch.

They are going to be just fine!

It's normal to have slight fluxuations in temperatures in incubators and as long as your temps are staying with an acceptable realm of 99.5 give or take.......IT'S ALL GOOD!

Thanks for the support all... I have found so much of this process lies on faith.
Faith that the USPS treated the package kindly...
Faith that the temp reading is accurate...
Faith that the humidity reading is accurate...
Faith that mother nature knows what to do...

Very little we can do but to go by what we think is accurate information and act accordingly - and of course their is patience.
