I purchased a Brinsea Octagon 20 MK.II incubator 2nd hand, I figured it was a good deal since it also had the auto-turner. I payed $75.....I'm hoping it will work ok. It's not the prettiest. I'm half thinking I should have waited to buy one new. But, I guess if it hatches successfully that is all that matters.
Does anyone still use this model? What is your experience? Any tips? Mine has no manual, this will be our 1st time using an incubator.

I'm hoping someone may be able to give some advice. I've got the incubator all cleaned up and I've tested it. The temp stays steady and the turner works like a charm. This is an older model and it doesn't seem to have a vent like the other Brinseas I've seen. Will this be an issue?
I don't have a hygrometer. From what I've read you should fill 1 of the water compartments for the 1st phase and fill both at lock down. Does that seem to work well, or are there some other adjustments I should make? Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'd like to hatch some eggs soon. thank you.

Well, I just put 12 BO eggs into the incubator tonight. I want to do a test run before I put 20 eggs in. They are sitting in a paper egg carton that has the bottoms cut out. 1 water compartment is filled. Temp is hangin steady at 99.5. I plan on leaving it shut until day 7 when we candle unless water level seems low.

We set 12 eggs, candled at day 10. 5 eggs were clear and 7 were good. We have a young roo with 16 hens, I'm thinking that had something to do with the fertility rate.

yesterday was day 16, I'm sitting down and I hear this Wwwrrrrr rrrrr rrrr sound coming from the incubator. It seemed the fan didn't want to go. We got the lid off and quickly unscrewed the top and oiled things up. Thank goodness it's been working wonderfully now. It would have been terrible to lose the eggs this close to hatch day.

Tomorrow we will do our final candle and lockdown, I'm hoping we will be able to get the humidity correct easily.
