I picked up three bronze turkey poults today, and one of them constantly is chirping. Is this something I should worry about? I have lots of chickens, but I'm new to turkeys.

Sounds like it trying to tell you that the brooder is too cold for them. Should be nice and quite no sounds are good sounds.

Increase the temp up by 5 deg, not too much just a little see how the react. noise and clumped under heat - too cold far away from the heat painting - too hot spread all around even around the heat - just right.

The poult has stopped with the chirping for now. The other two seem to be happy and content. I have thrown a thermometer in their brooder to check the temp. I usually just adjust the lamp height by the chicks reaction. From what I have been reading on this site turkeys are more difficult to raise. I just gave them regular chick starter, and now realize I have to get higher protein feed. I guess I will have to head back to Big R in the morning and get different feed.

If not a sign of something amiss, plaintive and nearly constant `peeping' can also indicate that they've imprinted on you and don't like it when you are out of their sight. Leave and enter the room where the brooder is and you'll know.

We kept a classical station playing all the time and that helped somewhat.

Well, I just checked the temp in the brooder and it is right at 95 degrees. I left the area and the poult started the chirping again. I think it just wants attention (or to drive my DW crazy), which it is doing successfully.[IMG]

They do like Dvorak and Mendelsohn... Give them a week or two. Once they start packing it on they calm down. Matter of fact, they sleep like the dead:
