    Hello:

Can Bronze turkey toms breed with Black Turkey hens?

We just lost one of our turkey hens this morning, and our Tom is wandering around by himself now. So, we just found out the local hatchery has grown black turkey hens, but no bronzes. Is this possible? Thanks :)

Yes! The offspring will be mixes though.

All turkeys are the same breed (Turkey) and can breed with each other with no problems other than the size problems that are inherent with the broad breasted varieties.

Breeding a Bronze tom with a Black hen will produce all Barred Black offspring as long as neither the tom or hen is carrying any hidden recessive color genes.

Thanks so much all. We have the friendliest Tom that walks up to you to get affection/attention. He's good with kids, too. Just worried about his well-being. We'll go down to the hatchery today. :)
